What is Geographical Indication (GI)?
A geographical indication (GI) is a sign used on products that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities or a reputation that are due to that origin.
GI tag for a product, goods, or specialty provides legal protection to the original producers and prevents their unauthorized use by third parties.
The GI tag was implemented in India on 15 September 2003.
