Judiciary in Democracy

Legislative, Executive, Judiciary, and Media are the four pillars of our democracy, in which our Judiciary plays the great role of our constitution’s guardian. The Judiciary must function in its full domain to establish a healthy democracy. The world is full of people who hold different values. There are offenders, and there are victims. There is a provision of law to check the offences, and Judiciary works as per law and the constitution of India so that offenders can be punished. Victims can be compensated and served with Justice. The Judiciary fulfils the need for a system to assure law and order and the administration of Justice.
The Judiciary is a multilayered phenomenon that has different layers at different levels. In India, it starts with the blocks are small as ‘Gram Panchayat’ to the Apex court, which is supreme in all its decisions in between having several lower courts, session courts, High courts, and tribunals at the district and state levels. For proper and fair administration of Justice, appointments in Judiciary are kept free from all sorts of influence (external), whether from the government or any other organization. Judiciary must abide by the ‘constitution of India.’ Legal services Authorities are also established at district levels, which work to inform people about the law and their legal rights and remedies. It also provides free of cost legal assistance to people who cannot afford an advocate for them.
The cordial relationship between Bar and Bench is the foundation stone for Justice’s administration. As much as a Judge ro magistrate is essential for delivering Justice, an advocate is equally important as he presents the case in a more logical, simpler, chronological, and understandable form before the court. The Judiciary’s role is to ensure that law and order prevail no matter what, and it issues necessary directions to legislative and executives whenever necessary. A strong judicial system is mandatory for the establishment of a society in which people can live with peace and harmony, as a weak democracy gives birth to chaos, disorder, disdains, and cruelty.
Along with the administration of Justice, the legal sphere possesses many career opportunities. From the Chief Justice of India sitting in the Apex court to a sweeper working in any sub-divisional court of a district, Judiciary provides several jobs to the people. Advocates are one of the most eminent personalities in society, earning very handsomely. Some well-known names in the field of law are Ram Jethmalani, Harish Salve, and K. K Venugopal. One who knows the law well can live fearlessly as long as he is not breaking the law.
It is said that Justice delayed is Justice denied. With a strong judicial network, the proceedings in Indian courts are still very slow, taking years before they reach final judgments. There is a tremendous load of cases in the Judicial system. Although fast-track courts are also established so that crime against women and children can be sorted quickly and in fewer heavings and put the matter on short dates, the court proceedings need to be made faster, simpler, and more transparent.
