National Emblem of India
The State Emblem was a modification from The Lion Capital of Asoka at Sarnath. In the original emblem, you will see four lions placed back-to-back upon a circular abacus which rests upon the bell-shaped lotus. The frieze on the abacus contains sculptures with high relief depicting an elephant as well as a galloping horse. an elk and a bull separated by the interspersed Daharma Chakras.
The front of the Lion Capital depicts three lions seated on an abacus with an Dharma Chakra at the center and a bull on the right, and an emaciated horse on the left. There are also outlines of Dharma Chakras on the left and right became an official State Emblem for India on the 26th of January 1950. A bell-shaped lotus design was not included. The slogan Satyameva Jayate, meaning ‘Truth Alone wins and is written in Devanagari script beneath the image of the Lion Capital is part of the State Emblem of India
